A 541 m² plot at the upper end of the Saint-Jacut peninsula, five hundred metres from the sea and close enough to the shops to leave the car where it is. With a brand new three-bedroom bungalow on it, the price is €478,680 all in.

One honest note on the distance: the advertisement gives 500 m to the sea without naming a beach. On a peninsula barely a few hundred metres wide there is water on both sides, so the figure is credible — but we would want to walk it with you before you commit, and we will.

The house is our three-bedroom bungalow with integrated garage: 85 m², everything on one level. A bright open-plan living, dining and kitchen area opens onto the terrace and garden, with three bedrooms, a modern bathroom, a separate WC, a utility room and the garage built in. The layout can be adapted to your wishes, and a second bathroom is possible.

About Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer

Saint-Jacut is a long, narrow spit of land reaching out between the bay of Arguenon and the bay of Lancieux, with eleven beaches strung along its two shores. Whatever the wind is doing on one side, there is shelter on the other, and nowhere on the peninsula is more than a short walk from the water.

The village began as a fishing settlement and still looks like one — low whitewashed houses, narrow lanes running down to the sea, boats drawn up on the sand. The abbey at the neck of the peninsula dates from the eleventh century and still operates as a retreat house. At the far tip, the Pointe du Chevet looks across to the Îles des Hébihens, which can be walked to on the lowest tides.

Being at the upper end of the peninsula puts the shops, the bakery, the restaurants and the market on your doorstep, with Ploubalay and its larger supermarkets a few minutes inland — useful in February as well as August.

Dinan is around half an hour away, Saint-Malo and its ferry port roughly forty minutes, Dinard and its airport about twenty-five minutes, and Lamballe or Saint-Brieuc put Paris within two and a half hours by TGV.
