A village-centre plot of 362 m² at Saint-Jean-la-Poterie, with the shops and the school within walking distance and Redon five minutes down the road. The plot comes with a stone outbuilding, which is an unusual thing to find on a building plot and gives you a workshop, a store or a garden room without building one. With a brand new two-bedroom bungalow, the total is €180,000.
The house is our two-bedroom bungalow: 75 m², everything on one level. A bright open-plan living, dining and kitchen area opens onto the terrace and garden, with two bedrooms, a modern bathroom, a separate WC and a utility room. The layout can be adapted to your wishes and a garage can be added as an option.
Mains drainage is mentioned in the advertisement, which is the good outcome — no individual treatment system to install or maintain. We confirm the connections and what the existing stone building can be used for under the local planning rules before you commit.
About Saint-Jean-la-Poterie
The name tells the story. Saint-Jean-la-Poterie has been a pottery village since the Middle Ages, working the clay of the Vilaine valley; the trade ran here for centuries and the village keeps its memory in its name, its museum and the work of the potters still based nearby.
It sits immediately west of Redon, close enough that the town's shops, hospital, schools and station are a five-minute drive, and far enough to be a village with its own school, shops and life.
Redon is the anchor: around 9,500 residents, supermarkets and a high street, a weekly market, a hospital, several lycées, a cinema and a swimming pool, and real employment rather than seasonal work. Its abbey, founded in 832, still stands at the centre of the old town, surrounded by half-timbered houses and the stone mansions of the shipowners who grew rich on the river trade.
The station gives a direct TGV to Paris in about two and a quarter hours, with Rennes and Nantes each around forty minutes by train and Vannes half an hour. Both Rennes and Nantes airports are within an hour by road. The Atlantic beaches at Pénestin and Damgan are around forty-five minutes and the Gulf of Morbihan under an hour.
