About Réminiac
Réminiac is a small rural commune in eastern Morbihan, in the country between Malestroit, Ploërmel and the edge of the Brocéliande forest. It is quiet, green and agricultural, and it sits within easy reach of three things that make this corner of Brittany particularly liveable.
The first is Malestroit, fifteen minutes away — a genuinely beautiful little town on the Oust and the Nantes–Brest canal, with half-timbered and carved stone houses around its square, a port de plaisance, shops, a market and a medical centre. The towpath from there runs for miles in both directions.
The second is Ploërmel, about twenty minutes, which is the practical town: supermarkets, schools and lycées, a hospital, and the lake at Ploërmel for sailing and swimming in summer.
The third is Brocéliande. The forest of Paimpont, the Arthurian forest of legend, begins half an hour east — Merlin's tomb, the Val sans Retour, the Fontaine de Barenton, and a great deal of very good walking that happens to have a thousand years of stories attached to it.
Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan are around fifty minutes south, Rennes about an hour east, and the beaches of the Atlantic coast a little over an hour. Nantes and Rennes airports are both reachable in around an hour and a quarter.
