This is the largest and the most private of our Saint-Gildas plots: 689 m², bounded by a geometer, and hors lotissement — it sits on its own rather than inside an estate, with no shared rules and no row of identical roofs either side. The permitted footprint is generous, so there is room for the house, the garage, a proper terrace and garden on all sides, and scope to extend later.

The home is our four-bedroom villa: 115 m² across two floors with an integrated garage. The ground floor has an open-plan living and dining room opening to the terrace and garden, a fitted kitchen, a double bedroom with its own bathroom, a separate WC and a utility room — a full ground-floor suite if you want one. Three further bedrooms, a family bathroom and a second WC are upstairs. The layout can be adapted to suit you.

About Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys

The Presqu'île de Rhuys is the long finger of land that closes the southern side of the Golfe du Morbihan, with the Atlantic on its outer shore and the gulf on its inner one. Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys occupies the ocean side, a commune of around 2,000 people spread between its bourg, its abbey and several kilometres of coast.

Saint Gildas founded the monastery here in the sixth century. The church that stands today still shows Romanesque work from the eleventh, and Pierre Abélard served as its abbot in the 1120s, a posting he disliked so thoroughly that he wrote about it at length. The village around it has shops, bakeries, restaurants, a school and a medical practice.

The coast is the reason to be here. Beaches, coves and low cliffs run along the commune's shoreline, linked end to end by the GR34 coastal path. Sailing is everywhere: Port du Crouesty at Arzon is one of the largest marinas in Brittany, and Port-Navalo at the peninsula's tip faces the narrow mouth of the gulf and its islands.

Sarzeau, the main town of the peninsula, is around 8 km away with supermarkets, schools and a weekly market. Vannes is about forty minutes by road — walled old town, port, full range of medical services, and a TGV station with Paris in roughly two and a half hours. Nantes airport is around an hour and a half.
