Pleurtuit has around six thousand residents and the services to match — supermarkets, primary and secondary schooling, doctors, a pharmacy, sports clubs and a weekly market. It is a town that works all year, which is exactly what the coastal villages ten minutes away are not.
Around it, the geography is generous. Dinard is ten minutes north: the belle-époque villas, the Promenade du Clair de Lune, the bathing tents, the casino and the seawater pool. The Rance estuary is on the eastern edge of the commune, with wooded creeks, moorings, the old tide mills and the GR34 along the bank. West lie Saint-Briac, Lancieux and the Emerald Coast.
The Dinard–Pleurtuit–Saint-Malo airport is within the commune, with seasonal flights to the UK. Saint-Malo is fifteen minutes across the Rance barrage, with the hospital, the secondary schools, the walled city, the ferry port to Portsmouth, Poole and Jersey, and the TGV station with Paris in under three hours.
