A 660 m² building plot in the centre of Saint-Suliac, with free choice of builder, sold through a notary. Building land in a village classed among the Plus Beaux Villages de France is not something that comes up often, and it is the reason this plot is priced as it is.
The house is our 150 m² design of four to five bedrooms, with two bathrooms and a garage. One point worth making: in a village of this character the planning rules will shape the design, and that is a good thing rather than an obstacle — we handle the permit and the local requirements as part of the job.
The servicing is not specified in the description we reviewed, so the connections are confirmed and quoted before you commit.
About Saint-Suliac
Saint-Suliac is the only village on the Rance to hold the Plus Beaux Villages de France label, and it earns it without trying. Narrow lanes of low granite fishermen's houses run down to the water, hung with hollyhocks in summer. There is a twelfth-century church, an old fishing quay, and boats leaning over on the mud at low tide.
The village was a fishing community — the men sailed from here to the Newfoundland cod banks for centuries — and the layout still shows it. Above the houses, the Mont Garrot gives one of the great views of the estuary, out over the loops of the river towards Saint-Malo and the sea. Below, the remains of a Viking camp and the old salt marshes and oyster beds line the shore, with the GR34 running the whole way.
It is a living village, not a museum: a bakery, a grocer, restaurants, a school, and a serious local following for the annual fête.
Saint-Malo is around fifteen minutes north, with the hospital, the secondary schools, the walled city, the ferry port and the TGV station reaching Paris in under three hours. Dinan and its ramparts are twenty minutes up the river; Dinard and its airport around twenty minutes west; Rennes fifty minutes.
