About Miniac-Morvan

Miniac-Morvan is a commune of around four thousand people on the ridge between the Rance and the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, roughly halfway between Saint-Malo and Dinan. It is a working village with a proper centre — bakeries, shops, a supermarket, a school, doctors, sports facilities and a market — rather than a pretty hamlet that empties in winter.

Its position is the reason people move here. The N176 runs past, so Saint-Malo is twenty minutes, Dinan fifteen, Dol-de-Bretagne ten and Rennes around fifty. The Rance valley is on the western edge of the commune, with the wooded banks, the moorings and the GR34 towpath at Pleudihen and La Vicomté a few minutes away.

Around the village the country is bocage and farmland, with the old railway line converted into a voie verte for walking and cycling.

Saint-Malo gives you the hospital, the secondary schools, the walled city, the beaches, the ferry port to Portsmouth, Poole and Jersey, and the TGV to Paris in under three hours. Dinan — ramparts, medieval streets, the port on the Rance — is fifteen minutes the other way. Mont-Saint-Michel is around forty-five minutes.
