A small, easy plot of 250 m² on the edge of the village at Langon, in a quiet hamlet, with water, electricity and mains drainage already at the boundary. With a brand new two-bedroom bungalow built on it, the total is €170,000.
The house is our two-bedroom bungalow: 75 m², everything on one level. A bright open-plan living, dining and kitchen area opens onto the terrace and garden, with two bedrooms, a modern bathroom, a separate WC and a utility room. The layout can be adapted to your wishes and a garage can be added as an option. A plot this size is genuinely low maintenance, which suits a holiday home, a first house in France or an easy retirement.
Mains drainage at the boundary is worth pausing on: it means no individual treatment system to install, no ground given over to a filter bed, and nothing to maintain. The connections themselves are surveyed and quoted as part of the works.
About Langon and the Redon area
Langon sits on the Vilaine a quarter of an hour north of Redon, in the south of the Ille-et-Vilaine. It is an old village with an unusual claim: the Chapelle Sainte-Agathe at its centre is one of the oldest buildings in Brittany, a Gallo-Roman structure later converted into a chapel, with a Roman fresco of Venus still visible inside. On the moor above the village stand the Demoiselles de Langon, a group of some forty standing stones.
For everything else, Redon is the town that matters, and it is close. Redon has around 9,500 residents and works all year: supermarkets, a proper high street, a weekly market, a hospital, doctors, primary schools and several lycées, a cinema, a swimming pool and real employment. It sits where three departments and two regions meet, with seven rivers and the Nantes–Brest canal converging on it.
The station at Redon is the thing most buyers underestimate. Direct TGV to Paris Montparnasse in about two and a quarter hours; Rennes and Nantes each around forty minutes by train; Vannes half an hour. Rennes and Nantes both have international airports within an hour by road.
The Atlantic beaches at Pénestin and Damgan are around forty-five minutes, the Gulf of Morbihan under an hour, and La Baule about an hour. Rochefort-en-Terre, one of the prettiest villages in France, is half an hour, and the forest of Brocéliande a similar distance north.
