At €10,080 this is the least expensive piece of building land in our whole Vendée selection, and with a brand new two-bedroom bungalow on it the total comes to €170,080 — a finished, guaranteed, DPE A house in the Vendée for a shade over a hundred and seventy thousand euros.
The house is our two-bedroom bungalow: 75 m², everything on one level. A bright open-plan living, dining and kitchen area opens onto the terrace and garden, with two bedrooms, a modern bathroom, a separate WC and a utility room. The layout can be adapted to your wishes and a garage can be added as an option.
At 240 m² the plot is a courtyard garden rather than a field — quick to look after, which suits a holiday home, a first step into France or an easy retirement. The utility connections are not specified in the advertisement and this is a builder-linked offer, so we establish the servicing and the purchase conditions in writing before anything is signed.
About Bourneau
Bourneau is a peaceful village in the canton of La Châtaigneraie, in the southern Vendée — a gently elevated spot in the bocage, with meadows, hedgerows and quiet lanes stretching in every direction. It is the kind of Vendée village the tourists rarely reach, and all the better for it.
The Château de Bourneau stands in its own park at the edge of the village, a handsome seventeenth-century house that has been carefully restored, and the church and the old centre are worth a walk.
La Châtaigneraie, a few minutes away, is the market town for this corner: supermarkets, schools, doctors, a pharmacy, restaurants and a weekly market that fills the square. Fontenay-le-Comte, the old capital of the Bas-Poitou and a Ville d'Art et d'Histoire with a remarkable Renaissance quarter, is around twenty minutes.
The Marais Poitevin — the Green Venice, with its punts and its canals under the poplars — is half an hour south. Puy du Fou is around forty minutes north-east, La Roche-sur-Yon forty-five minutes west, and the Atlantic beaches at Les Sables-d'Olonne about an hour and a quarter. Niort and its TGV to Paris are around fifty minutes.
