This is one of the best addresses in our whole selection: a 700 m² plot with good exposure, in a premium position near the Havre beach at Rothéneuf, with the sailing school and the village centre within walking distance.
The house is our 150 m² design of four to five bedrooms, with two bathrooms and a garage. On a plot of this size, in a position like this, the design is worth taking time over — the orientation, the placing of the terrace and the size of the openings all matter more here than anywhere else on the list, and all of them are yours to decide.
Stated plainly: the servicing needs confirming with the seller, and we do that before you commit.
About Le Havre and Rothéneuf
The Anse du Havre is the sheltered inlet at the eastern edge of Saint-Malo, and it is one of the pleasantest corners of the whole commune. A crescent of sand, boats on moorings, a slipway and a sailing school that has taught generations of Malouins to handle a dinghy — and behind it the village of Rothéneuf with its own shops, church and small harbour.
This is the quiet side of a busy town. The beaches here — the Havre, the Val, Le Pont — never fill the way the Sillon does, and the coast path east towards the Pointe du Meinga runs along some of the least developed shoreline near the city, with the bay emptying and filling beneath it on tides of around thirteen metres.
The Rochers Sculptés are a few minutes away: hundreds of figures carved into the granite of the foreshore by the Abbé Fouré over twenty-five years at the end of the nineteenth century, a whole legend of pirates and monsters cut into the rock above the sea.
Cancale and the oyster beds are fifteen minutes east. The centre of Saint-Malo, with the walled city, the hospital, the schools and the market, is ten minutes west, along with the ferry port and the TGV station — Portsmouth, Poole via Guernsey, Jersey most days, and Paris in under three hours.
