Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a garage and an 878 m² garden, brand new and finished, for €195,000. This is the least expensive four-bedroom package we have, and it is worth saying plainly what that buys: a family house in southern Normandy for less than the deposit on a comparable house in much of southern England.
The house is our four-bedroom design with two bathrooms, arranged over two floors with a garage. The ground floor has a bright open-plan living and dining room opening onto the terrace and garden, a fitted kitchen, a bedroom with its own bathroom, a separate WC and a utility room — so guests or grandparents can stay without stairs. Three further bedrooms and a second bathroom are upstairs. The layout can be adapted to suit you.
Two things stated openly. Water and electricity are at the boundary but drainage is required, so an individual treatment system is designed and installed as part of the build. And this is an older advertisement, so availability is reconfirmed before anything proceeds.
About Saint-Brice-de-Landelles for a family
Saint-Brice sits in the far south of the Manche, in the thick green bocage where Normandy meets Brittany, and it is a practical place to raise children rather than merely a pretty one.
Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët, a few minutes away, carries the weight: primary and secondary schooling, supermarkets, doctors, a pharmacy, sports clubs, a swimming pool and a weekly market. Fougères, twenty-five minutes south in Brittany, adds a larger range again, along with one of the biggest medieval castles in Europe — and a castle with towers you can climb is a Saturday afternoon that never quite wears out.
The Sélune valley is the local adventure. Two large dams have been removed and the river is running free for the first time in a century, bringing back the salmon and opening miles of new valley walking. Old railway lines have become traffic-free greenways, so children can cycle for miles without meeting a car. The Ange Michel leisure park, with its slides and rides, is close by, and the beaches of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel are half an hour.
For the journey home, Rennes and its international airport are around an hour, with a TGV reaching Paris in an hour and a half. Saint-Malo and its ferries to Portsmouth and the Channel Islands are an hour and ten minutes.
