Sixteen hundred and fifty square metres — a shade over four tenths of an acre, and the largest plot anywhere on this site. With a brand new two-bedroom bungalow built on it, the whole thing comes to €179,990.
That is the headline, and it is worth pausing on. For less than the price of a small flat in the south-east of England you get a finished, insulated, guaranteed new home with a DPE A rating, and enough land around it for a pool, an orchard, a vegetable garden, a workshop and a paddock, with room to spare.
The house is our two-bedroom bungalow: 75 m², everything on one level. A bright open-plan living, dining and kitchen area opens onto the terrace and garden, with two bedrooms, a modern bathroom, a separate WC and a utility room. The layout can be adapted to your wishes and a garage can be added as an option — and on a plot this size, a larger house is equally possible if you would rather have three or four bedrooms.
The plot forms part of an offer of three large parcels, so the servicing and the exact allocation need confirming before you commit. That is the first thing we do for you.
About Les Loges-Marchis
Les Loges-Marchis is a quiet farming commune in the far south of the Manche, a few minutes from Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët, in the thick green bocage where Normandy, Brittany and the old Maine come together.
This is unglamorous, genuine countryside — dairy farms, cider orchards, high hedgerows and lanes that go nowhere in particular — and it is exactly why plots here cost a fraction of what the same ground costs an hour west on the coast. The village is small and the community is real.
Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët does the work of a town: supermarkets, schools, doctors, a pharmacy, restaurants and a busy weekly market, all within a few minutes' drive. The Sélune valley is nearby, where the removal of two old dams has opened one of the biggest river restoration projects in Europe, bringing the salmon back and creating miles of new valley walking. Greenways along the old railway lines give traffic-free cycling in every direction.
Mont-Saint-Michel is around thirty-five minutes. Fougères and its great medieval castle are twenty-five minutes into Brittany, Avranches about half an hour, Rennes with its airport and TGV to Paris roughly an hour, and Saint-Malo and its ferries an hour and ten minutes.
