About Langoëlan
Langoëlan is a small commune in the Scorff valley in north-west Morbihan, in the Pays du Roi Morvan — granite country, deep lanes, wooded river valleys and a great deal of quiet. Anyone buying here is buying space and silence, and should go and stand on the plot on a wet Tuesday in February before deciding.
What you get for it is a part of Brittany where the countryside is genuinely unspoilt. The Scorff below is one of the cleanest rivers in the region, good for salmon and trout, with marked walking and cycling routes running along it between the villages. Buzzards, deer and red squirrels are ordinary here.
Guémené-sur-Scorff is about ten minutes away and is the town for daily life: a weekly market, bakers, butchers, a chemist, a supermarket, doctors and a medical centre, and the andouille that has carried the town's name across France. Le Faouët, with its extraordinary sixteenth-century covered market hall, is around twenty-five minutes west.
Pontivy is roughly forty minutes east for the hospital and the lycées. Lorient, its airport and the beaches are about an hour south, and Quimper an hour and a quarter west.
