About Locmalo
Locmalo sits immediately beside Guémené-sur-Scorff, so close that the two run into one another, which gives you a village address with a town's services within walking distance. That combination is rarer than it sounds and it is the main argument for this plot.
The village has a fine parish church, and the country around it is the wooded valley of the Scorff — marked walking and cycling routes run from here through Guémené, Persquen and Lignol, and the river itself is among the best trout and salmon water in Brittany.
Guémené-sur-Scorff is the market town for this whole corner of the Morbihan. It has a weekly market, bakers, butchers, a chemist, a supermarket, doctors and a medical centre, a school, and cafés that are open in winter. It is also, improbably for a town of this size, nationally famous for one thing: the andouille de Guémené, smoked and wound in rings, which you will find on menus all over France and made in the town itself.
Pontivy is about thirty-five minutes for the hospital and the lycées, Lorient and its airport around fifty minutes, and the south coast beaches within the hour. Quimper is roughly an hour and a quarter west.
