La Chèze is one of them — a characterful village in the heart of Brittany, wrapped in a thousand years of history, with a beautiful lake, a medieval castle at its centre, and the peace of the Breton countryside all around. And now you can have a brand new, energy-efficient home right in the middle of it, for an all-inclusive price of just €178,000.
This is a thoughtfully designed two-bedroom bungalow — single storey, low maintenance, and beautifully suited to a holiday home, a retirement home, or a fresh start in France. A bright, open-plan living, dining and kitchen area fills with natural light and opens onto the garden. Two comfortable bedrooms, a modern bathroom, a separate WC and a utility room complete the home. The layout can be adapted to your wishes, and a garage can be added as an option.
About La Chèze
La Chèze is a welcoming village in the Côtes-d'Armor, set in the gentle valley of the River Lié in central Brittany. Its history runs deep. The great Château de La Chèze, built from 1180 for the Viscount of Porhoët and later held by the powerful Rohan family and the Constable of France, Olivier de Clisson, still stands at the heart of the village. Today it is a peaceful, characterful place surrounded by the lakes, rivers and woodland of central Brittany, with a beautiful natural étang right beside the village.
Loudéac, the commercial centre of the area, with supermarkets, schools, a hospital and a railway station, is just 12 km away. Josselin, with its fairy-tale château rising above the River Oust, is 21 km to the south. Pontivy, with its medieval castle and Napoleonic quarter, is 24 km to the west. Brittany's beautiful coastline, and the ferry ports of Saint-Malo and Roscoff, are within easy reach, and Rennes, with its international airport and high-speed trains to Paris, is around an hour away. It is a location that offers real tranquillity without being remote.

Built to the highest standards, fully protected
Every home we build is constructed under a CCMI, the Contrat de Construction de Maison Individuelle, France's most powerful consumer-protection contract for new builds. Your price is fixed and legally binding from the day you sign, with no variations and no surprises, and you pay in stages only as the work is completed and verified.
Every home is covered by Dommages-Ouvrage ten-year structural insurance. If anything structural were to go wrong within ten years, it is put right immediately, without you having to prove fault or go through the courts.
And every home is built to France's RE2020 energy standard, the most demanding in Europe, and carries a DPE energy rating of A, the highest in France. In practice this means a home that is beautifully insulated and extraordinarily cheap to run: typical heating costs are just €30 to €35 per month, all year round.
Why new build?
Unlike an older property, there are no hidden problems waiting to become your expense. No rewiring, no replumbing, no damp, no ageing septic tank, no tired roof. Everything is brand new, everything is guaranteed, and everything works from day one. You save on running costs, on maintenance and on stress, and you move into a home that is exactly as it should be.
Where we build
French Life Club builds across Brittany, Normandy and the Vendée, three of the most sought-after regions in western France. We build everything from one-bedroom homes to six-bedroom family houses: bungalows, villas, houses with loft conversions, and fully bespoke designs. If your plans take you elsewhere in France, talk to us and we will be happy to help.
With 36 years of experience and over 1,200 completed projects, we manage the whole journey for you from start to finish, in English, from choosing the plot to handing you the keys. Get in touch to find out more, to request the floor plans and 3D visuals, or to arrange a friendly, no-obligation chat by phone or video.
Notaire fees of approximately €1,900 apply to the land purchase only. There are no notaire fees on the construction, which is one of the reasons a new build works out cheaper than an existing property of the same value.
