About Kerfourn
Kerfourn is a small commune in central Morbihan, in the farmland between the Blavet and the Oust, a few minutes from Noyal-Pontivy and about a quarter of an hour from Pontivy itself. This is deep, unhurried rural Brittany — hedged fields, sunken lanes, granite farm buildings, and villages that still have a bakery and a school.
The position is what makes it work. Pontivy, fifteen minutes away, has a hospital, several supermarkets, an old high street, a big Monday market, cinemas, a pool, sports clubs, primary schools, colleges and lycées. For a family moving over permanently, that list is the whole argument.
The Nantes–Brest canal at Rohan is about ten minutes away, with a towpath running for miles in either direction and boats to hire without a licence. Josselin and its Rohan château are twenty-five minutes east; Loudéac about the same to the north.
Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan are an hour south, Lorient and the south coast about the same, Saint-Brieuc and the north coast around fifty minutes, and Rennes an hour and a quarter. For a four-bedroom house with a large garden, at this price, in the middle of Brittany, there is very little competition.
