About Bruc-sur-Aff
Bruc-sur-Aff is a quiet commune on the river Aff in the south of the Ille-et-Vilaine, between Redon and the forest of Brocéliande, and it is a good example of what makes this corner of Brittany work: real countryside, but never more than twenty minutes from a town with a hospital and a TGV station.
The Aff runs south through woodland to meet the Oust, and the river paths and towpaths are open for walking and cycling for as far as you like. The Île aux Pies, a short drive away, is a gorge of rock and clear green water where people climb and swim in summer.
Brocéliande begins to the north — the forest of the Arthurian legends, with the lake at Comper, the Val sans Retour and Merlin's tomb. West, at Saint-Just, stand the megalithic alignments that make this the most important prehistoric site in Brittany after Carnac. South-west, La Gacilly fills with flowers and photography each summer.
