Five hundred metres on foot from the Grande Plage — and that figure is a measured walking distance, not a straight line on a map, which is worth saying because it rarely is. The plot is 669 m², serviced, with free choice of builder and an advertised maximum building footprint of half the plot, which is generous. With a brand new three-bedroom bungalow on it, the price is €473,440 all in.
The house is our three-bedroom bungalow with integrated garage: 85 m², everything on one level. A bright open-plan living, dining and kitchen area opens onto the terrace and garden, with three bedrooms, a modern bathroom, a separate WC, a utility room and the garage built in. The footprint allowance here leaves plenty of room to extend the design, add a second bathroom, or build larger than the standard model if you want to.
About Saint-Cast-le-Guildo
Saint-Cast is one of the best-known resorts of the Emerald Coast, and one of the few that remains a working town out of season — around 3,500 permanent residents, with schools, doctors, supermarkets, a weekly market and a centre that stays open through the winter.
The Grande Plage is its heart: two kilometres of pale sand curving between the Pointe de Saint-Cast and the Pointe de la Garde, sheltered from the prevailing wind, supervised in summer, with the promenade, the cafés and the sailing school along the back of it. Six more beaches lie around the headlands, each with a different character, and the marina holds several hundred berths.
From the two points at either end of the bay the GR34 runs east towards the Arguenon and the peninsula at Saint-Jacut, and west along the cliffs to Fort la Latte and Cap Fréhel — the thirteenth-century castle on its promontory and the seventy-metre cliffs beyond it are twenty minutes away and worth the trip in any weather.
Dinan, with its ramparts and its medieval port on the Rance, is around half an hour inland. Saint-Malo and its ferries are roughly forty-five minutes, Dinard and its airport about half an hour, and Lamballe puts Paris within two and a half hours by TGV.
